Institutional Animal Care and Use Council

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Council (IACUC) consists of six members appointed by the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean of Graduate Studies. The Committee meets as necessary and reports to the Associate Vice President.

The IACUC develops, implements, and governs the policies and procedures for the humane care of laboratory animals used in research and education at the University. All research involving the use of animals at CCSU must be approved and monitored by this group. Membership on the IACUC and standards for the use and care of laboratory animals will be in compliance with the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act, as administered by the US Department of Agriculture, and the recommendations of the National Institutes of Health's Office of Protection from Research Risks. Approval forms and procedural guidelines are available from the Office of Sponsored Programs, 201 Davidson Hall.
