Welcome to the website of the Central Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CCSU-AAUP). CCSU-AAUP is the one of the constituent units of the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP) and is a chapter of the National AAUP. In cooperation with CSU-AAUP, CCSU-AAUP provides fair and adequate representation through collective bargaining and grievance procedures to all members of the faculty. CSU-AAUP is comprised of four constituent units: CCSU-AAUP, ECSU-AAUP, SCSU-AAUP and WCSU-AAUP. Together these units negotiate the wages and working conditions for all the full and part-time faculty, counselors, librarians and coaches at the four Connecticut State Universities. CSU-AAUP is also a professional organization, which works to advance academic freedom and shared governance in addition to other issues in higher education. At the time of hire, faculty automatically become a member of the CCSU-AAUP chapter and the CSU-AAUP bargaining unit. All bargaining unit members are entitled to vote on contract ratification. However, to become an active member of the organization, faculty must fill out a membership form. Active members have the right to vote in chapter elections, serve on committees, and, after six months, hold office. In addition active members also receive discounts on insurance, academic regalia, entrance fees to certain nationwide amusement parks, car rentals, tires and tire services, legal services and much more.
