Declaring Your major

In order to earn a degree a student must choose a major and complete the courses required in the program.  The best time to declare a major depends on the student.  Some students come to Central Connecticut with well-defined educational plans and begin taking courses in their major right away.  Many students, however, are uncertain of what major to choose and need time to formulate their academic goals.   Fortunately, Central’s general education program allows a student to work toward graduation requirements while exploring various academic disciplines.

Declaring a major may be as simple as writing in your choice on your admissions application or filling out a form.  Some majors, however, have formal application procedures and specific requirements which must be met before a student can be admitted to a program.
