The following section on standing orders was developed to reflect the standard of care that the athletic training staff at Central Connecticut State University must follow. The standing orders were developed in accordance with the State of Connecticut Law – PA 226 “An Act Concerning Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapy Assistants” If present, the Team Physician will take priority in
handling such on-the-field emergency situations. However, those physicians
and other allied health care practitioners that are in casual attendance
at contests will not take priority in these situations. School personnel
must identify any “spectator practitioners” in advance before they may be
asked to handle such a situation since they may not be familiar with these
protocols. The following standing orders have been established for the management of athletic related injuries. These procedures are standards of care authorized for Central Connecticut State University Athletic Training Staff under the consent and direction of the University Physician and Team Physician. These standing orders are guidelines for common athletic injuries. Any alterations in these orders due to exceptional circumstances are permitted only with written or oral permission of the University Physician or Team Physician. These Standing Orders Are Not To Be Used As An Injury Guide For The Coaching Staff. These medical directives have been reviewed and approved by: Myra Rosenstein, MD, University Medical Director; William Waskowitz, MD, Senior Team Physician; and Robert Waskowitz , MD, Team Physician.
