The sports medicine team consists of the university medical director; the team physician(s); the certified athletic trainers and student athletic trainers; the certified strength and conditioning specialists; and various consultants in the areas of cardiology, neurology, primary care, orthopedic specialties, dentistry, ophthalmology, and counseling.

The athletic training staff gives Blue Devil student-athletes first-class care in the area of treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Kathy Pirog, ATC directs this area with assistants Tom McCarthy, ATC, and Paul Manwaring, ATC, along with certified graduate assistant athletic trainers and athletic training students who ensure that the athletes’ needs are met.
