 The aim of this mini-track is to provide a forum to discuss issues related to small Information Technology companies. The development of such businesses has attracted very little attention from the Information Systems research community and from management researchers in spite of its relevance.

This mini-track seeks to reflect on current research and practice in the following areas:
·
       
Management issues in small Information Technology businesses;
·       Diffusion of technology innovation in small Information Technology  companies;
·       The role of incubators in small Information Technology  business development;
·        Forms of funding and support for small Information Technology business development;
·       Small Information Technology businesses and their relationship to professional societies;
·        The potential links between universities and small Information Technology 
businesses;
·
       
Small Information Technology  businesses and their role in a local economy;
·
        
Small IT businesses and their contribution to the IT industry at large;
·
        
Strategic planning for small Information Technology businesses.

The best three papers will be published in the International Journal of Computers, Systems and  Signals.

  Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to Don Petkov, Marianne D'Onofrio or Olga Petkova by February 1, 2004. This is an important step to ensure that you submitted your paper to the correct mini-track.

The deadline for submitting papers, workshops, or tutorials is February 22, 2004. See the conference website for details.

The AIS invites scholars and practitioners worldwide to participate in the program for the 2004 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS 2004). The conference covers important and recent issues in Information Systems and serves the research and teaching interests of the IS community.
