The Office of Counsel to the President advises the president, the
vice presidents, chief officers, and deans concerning a variety of
legal issues and assists the Office of the Attorney General in the
defense of the University and its agents in administrative and
judicial forums. The Office comprises two permanent employees,
Attorney Carolyn A. Magnan and Legal Assistant Denise Chancey.
Attorney Magnan also serves on the University’s critical incident
management and threat assessment teams, serves as the University’s
Ethics Compliance Officer and Freedom of Information Commission
Liaison and as a member of the President’s Executive Committee and
the Facilities Planning Committee.
