Jennifer Harrison Newman - Guest Instructor

Has performed both nationally and internationally with concert dance companies such as David Rousseve/Reality and Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Theater. Having studied at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and The American Dance Festival, she received her BA in Dance from UCLA, graduating summa cum laude. After leaving concert dance, Jennifer danced with the Radio City Rockettes, Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony and Whitney Houston. She originated the role of “Lola” in the Broadway company of Saturday Night Fever and has appeared in print, film and television on numerous occasions. Most recently she appeared in Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway. While working as a performer, Jennifer created Destination: Groove, a performance-based production benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. She has also produced numerous cabaret concerts across the United States for DIFFA, BC/EFA and other nonprofit AIDS organizations and was an associate producer for the Broadway production of The Color Purple. Jennifer received her MFA from the Yale School of Drama and has most recently been named an Artist in Residence at The Field in New York City.  She currently teaches modern and principles of choreography at CCSU.
