EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND ACTIVITIES OF PEER LEADERS  

 

Present at least one 50-minute lecture/activity (can do more than one!)

The lecture/activity should be informative, interesting and well-planned.

Make it clear to your first-year students that you are approachable, if needed.

Play an active role in the FYE class (e.g., contribute ideas weekly; participate in in-class groups and discussions).

Help first-year students understand the college experience from another student's perspective

Provide information that helps first-year students adjust to the university.

Be an important part of the first-year students' experience in FYE.

Connect with first-year student outside of the classroom (e.g., online via text, e-mail, etc.; coordinate campus or community activities for the class)
