Important Information Regarding Masters of Arts (MAT) Teacher Preparation

Looking for a way to become a teacher of secondary content areas or special education? CCSU is currently redesigning our Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree program. The MAT focuses on advancing your subject matter knowledge and developing the skills needed to help every student learn. At CCSU the MAT is a hands-on experience that places you in a classroom each semester to practice what you are learning.

The next cohort will begin in late May 2015 for Secondary Education (7-12) English, math, sciences and Spanish. Applications are now open.

Pending approval by CCSU, Board of Regents and CSDE, the redesigned program cohort will begin the following year in late May 2016 that will add history/social studies and other foreign languages to the certification areas.

We have consistently prepared outstanding educators who have transformed communities around the world. Our graduates are in demand and teach in a variety of public, charter, and independent schools. Our program prepares you for your first day in the classroom and for a successful and engaging career. Please contact Dr. Susan Seider (Seider@ccsu.edu), MAT Director for further information.
