What is SPOOFING? Spoofing is the forging of the "from" field in an email. Often spammers will send out email with a from address that is not their own. They do this so if a server blocks the email because it is spam, their mail box will not become full. Many viruses were designed to "spoof" the from field so that the message appears to be from someone you know. Some viruses grab the email address book from computers it has infected and uses these addresses to send to as well as make it appear as if the infected message is coming from someone in the address book. |
