What is the VPN?
Information Technology
understands the need for faculty and staff to access their Personal
Shares (M: drive), Department Drive (S: drive), Banner Production INB and other campus network resources from off campus. In an
effort to improve current services, IT has implemented a virtual private network (VPN) that
allows you to access CCSU systems remotely.
This system is quite easy to use. All you have to do is access https://vpn.ccsu.edu from the Internet and enter in your BlueNet Account username and
password just like you would on the campus network. In moments, you have access to netshare files just like you
would on the campus network. Now you do not need to save your work to a
disk in order to bring it home and work on it. All of your files will be
available to you through any computer at any location at any time as long as
you have internet access. Other systems that can be accessed remotely via
the VPN include Banner Production INB and Outlook.

Using the VPN Bookmarks
A bookmark is a link to
a specific website or folder. By clicking on a bookmark you are instantly
connected to a specific location without the hassle of browsing for it.
The main VPN web page has bookmarks already set up for you. You can also
set up your own specific bookmarks. The following instructions will help
you access various websites and folders by adding, editing or removing your own
bookmarks.
Adding Bookmarks
- Navigate to a folder location and click on the folder you wish to bookmark.
- To bookmark the entire share or application, click on Bookmark Current Folder in the upper right. To bookmark individual folders, click on the checkbox next to the folder, then click on Bookmark Selected.
- Click on the Add Bookmark button. Your bookmark will be added and saved.
Editing Bookmarks
- Click on the Item Properties button to the right of the bookmark.
- Make edits to the bookmark.
- Click on the Save Changes button.
Removing Bookmarks

Changing Browser Options
If you are using Internet Explorer to access the VPN, you may experience problems connecting to links
if the "Internet Options" are not set properly. Making the following change
will prevent linked sites from being launched in the VPN Session Manager
Box, which will terminate the VPN connection.
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the Tools menu.
- Click on Internet Options...
- An Internet Options window will open. Click on the Advanced tab.
- Scroll down the Settings menu until you find "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts." Uncheck the box by clicking on it.
- Click OK.
