It provides data for problem solving, forecasting for proactive initiatives, and an assessment of the overall health of the industry. To date the tourism industry in the State of Connecticut has enjoyed excellent growth. However, there is a lack of solid empirical data on which to base future marketing decisions. To date the performance of the industry is little known and by default is anecdotal in nature.

It is the purpose of the CCSU tourism institute to rectify this deficiency and put the marketing of Connecticut tourism on a sound research base. To this end, Central Connecticut State University has established a market research institute to provide accurate and timely market research for the state's tourism industry.
