Daniel M. SiracusaDan Siracusa, president of Siracusa Moving & Storage, founded his company with one truck and hard work after Central Connecticut State University gave him a chance.

Originally from New York, Dan had a difficult time in high school and was accepted at CCSU. There he learned to apply himself. “Central gave me a second lease on life,”

Dan has always felt that an important part of his responsibility as an employer is to be involved in the community. As his company has grown, he has tried to give something back to the communities that his employees call home.

In 1992, Dan started Button Up Connecticut which has distributed over 125,000 coats to Connecticut men, women, and children over the past 16 years. He has volunteered and supported the Special Olympics, September 11 disaster services, Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, Smile Train, the Children's Home of Cromwell, among many other charities an organizations.

Siracusa also remains connected to CCSU, occasionally guest lecturing in business ethics. In the summer, he offers a Youth Leadership Program in which CCSU students work in the company. “Central taught me how to relate and interact with people and knowing the art of the deal to be successful,” said Siracusa. “I'm proud of the fact that we have grown into a family-owned and operated business in Connecticut.”
