The Weather Center at CCSU

Central Connecticut State University has maintained a fully operational meteorological center since 1979. Today, CCSU's Weather Center is a working facility, with the capability of accessing weather information from all over the world. Students, administrators, faculty and residents of central Connecticut have relied on the Weather Center for more than 30 years for information and forecasts to help plan their activities.

A Davis Vantage Pro2 rooftop weather station allows constant monitoring and archiving of local weather conditions here in New Britain.  Hourly weather data and forecast guidance are also available through the internet. The Weather Center has full internet capability on multiple workstations, providing instantaneous access to all major meteorological websites around the world.  Computers at each lab station will allow students to use timely weather data in laboratory applications.

Students taking upper level courses in the meteorology program at CCSU assist in preparing daily forecasts, gaining skill and experience while learning how to work in an operational environment.
