The CCSU Babysitting website hopes to be a first step in meeting the child care needs of the CCSU campus. All parents and sitters are currently affiliated with CCSU and you will need a CCSU- affiliated login and password to register and post jobs. Posted jobs must be short-term only (1-3 hours). Babysitters should not watch more than 3 children under 12 at a time. Children must be at least 3 months old.


The Central Connecticut State University Babysitting Service ("the Service") acts only as a clearinghouse for the convenience of babysitters and clients. Neither Central Connecticut State University nor the Central Connecticut State Babysitting Service screens babysitters; Central Connecticut State University and the Service only guarantee that the babysitters are currently registered Central Connecticut State students. Babysitters are employed solely by the clients and are not employees of Central Connecticut State University or the Service. Central Connecticut State University and the Service make no representations to the client as to the qualifications of the babysitters. Central Connecticut State University and the Service make no representations to the babysitters as to the nature of the clients other than that the clients are current Central Connecticut State faculty, staff or students. In addition, Central Connecticut State University and the Service make no representations to babysitters or clients concerning the nature of the services provided. The clients and babysitters acknowledge that Central Connecticut State University is not legally or otherwise responsible for, and will be held harmless against, any injury, loss, or other damage arising from or related in any manner to the clients' and babysitters' use of the Central Connecticut State University Babysitting Service.

Tips for Babysitters:

  • Be on time! Arrange enough time to go over all instructions with the parent.
  • Before you accept a job, find out what the client expects from you and that you are comfortable with those expectations.
  • Contact the client as soon as any illness of emergency arises to keep you from getting to the job in order that they may get a substitute.
  • Agree on a place or places that you can take the children and DO NOT go anywhere else with the children.
  • Discuss payment with the client individually.
  • Try to meet with the client and the children personally beforehand in order to assess that they are who they say they are and that you are comfortable.
  • DO NOT take children into dorms.

It is your responsibility to interview the babysitter and get references. Inquire about experiences and any certifications (ie CPR)

Post jobs as early as you can.

Provide transport for the sitter if needed.

Find out if the sitter has particular allergies to foods or pets, for example, which may prevent them from caring for your children.
