Central joins AmeriCorps Schools of National Service program

Published:

Central Connecticut State University is proud to announce its designation as an AmeriCorps School of National Service. As a member institution, Central will award five matching scholarships of up to $2,000 annually to all qualified students who have participated in the AmeriCorps program.

The Schools of National Service initiative recognizes that individuals who served in AmeriCorps bring great value to the higher education or other post-secondary experience that benefit the institution, other students, and their communities. In recognition of the value of their service, the Schools of National Service initiative provides incentives and awards that encourage AmeriCorps alumni to attend a member institution.

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants with academic potential, demonstrated involvement in community activities, and leadership experience. Each award may be renewed for up to four years for recipients who remain in good academic standing.

To apply for this scholarship, students must submit a statement of participation that is endorsed by their AmeriCorps program director. This statement must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid at the time of application.
