Office of Wellness Education
Student Wellness Center provides mental health, physical health, and wellness education services to assist all CCSU undergraduate and graduate students in the pursuit of academic success, a fulfilling college experience, and a healthy lifestyle.
Counseling services are now provided primarily through an on-line telehealth system, although students experiencing a crisis can be seen in the office if preferred. Medical appointments through Health Services can be made in person or through telehealth. Please note that most COVID-19 related appointments are on-line via telehealth. Calls made to the SWC are answered by one of our front office staff; front office staff may be working remotely from home or may be in the office.
Michael Russo, Psy.D. - Director of Counseling and Student Development
The Student Wellness Center’s Counseling and Student Development Department supports students' academic success by assisting them in resolving mental health concerns and other personal difficulties. We offer individual counseling, group counseling, and psychiatric referral services to enrolled full- and part-time students. We also provide referrals for specialty, long term, or more intensive services. Our services are provided at no additional charge and are confidential. Amber Cheema, M.D. - Director of Health Services
The Student Wellness Center’s Health Services Department supports students' academic success by providing routine medical care to enrolled full and part-time students. There is NO charge for office visits, although some lab tests, immunizations, treatments, and prescription medications may require a small fee. We also provide referral services for more complex or serious medical issues. All visits are strictly confidential.

The Student Wellness Center’s Office of Wellness Education equips the CCSU community with resources and information that foster healthy lifestyles. We provide informative events for students on all realms of wellness including, stress management, healthy habits, 8 factors of wellness, substance misuse, and suicide prevention, as well as workshops on topics such as transitioning to the college experience and managing relationships. All activities are FREE.
